Kirby Spiegelman has had a very troubled life leading up to the cancellation of his comic in Olympia #3. He has lost everything he loved. And he has come to the point where he is ready to end his life. First, his wife has left with his son and remarried. Not only have they canceled his comic creation, they are withholding payments due to an accounting issue. But to top it all off, his friend and mentor, Wally has passed away. What he doesn’t know, is that his biggest fan and the character in his comic are on the way to see him. Will they arrive in time?

Olympia #3
In this issue we get to see everything that has led up to the ending of the previous issue. There is some language with some of the heavier words actually comic bleeped. I’m really enjoying the idea of a comic coming to life and hopefully restoring it’s own creator. The artwork is really gruff but fitting. As a printing professional most of my career, I appreciate the moire pattern incorporated into the depictions of comics and other printed material in the book. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, in this issue in particular they use it in the image of Wally at the graveside. I’m really enjoying everything about this series.
