Lin Lei and Ji Shuangshuang battle a hoard of demons determined to raise the god of war from the dead in Sword Master #7. But Lin Lie is no Sword Master just yet. He’s not even sure how to tap into it’s power completely. But Shuangshuang has the soul of Chiyou in a puzzle box that Lie’s father left with him. And the demons will stop at nothing to get it. They will have to figure out a way to work together to fight off the hoard or they will be one step closer to raising their god to life again.

Sword Master #7
The story continues to move at a snail’s pace. It manages to still be pretty exciting and intriguing still. But I was hoping things would pick up more steam after the issues stopped being split between two creative teams. The art is great. I’m not a huge anime/manga fan. But it works well for the story. Gunji makes the characters cartoony in spots to emphasize some of Lin’s goofy nature. I do think having the back story retold in the issue is a little unnecessary. But I understand for new readers it is extremely useful. This has been a good origin story for the Sword Master.
