Post Leviathan Metropolis is in chaos in Action Comics #1017. “Invisible War” part 1 shows us what Metropolis is like with Luthor in control. The Year of the Villain continues and this could be the beginning of the end for the world we know in the DC Universe. The entire Justice League must come together, but even that may not be enough. If Superman surrenders, the whole world will be as good as lost.
Action Comics #1017
I have to say, I wasn’t a huge fan of this issue. Action Comics is usually my favorite Superman book too. I realize it is the reunion of Bendis and Romita Jr. but I wasn’t a fan of the art in particular. We’re pretty much thrown into the story at the end. Or at least later in the story. This can be cool sometimes and a lot of comics and shows do it. But this time didn’t work for me. With all the Leviathan drama it was just a little much to take in.
For anyone wanting to get into Action Comics or Superman Comics in general, this is the beginning of an arc. So it may be a good idea to jump in now. I’ve only been reading since #1000 so I’m still confused by a lot that’s going on. I’m not particularly a fan of the Year of the Villain in DC either. I’m sure hoping that this is the last month for the Villains.
