The Absolute Carnage tie-in part one is here in Amazing Spider-Man #30. Straight from the pages of Absolute Carnage, Spider-Man is faced with a deadly foe. He must find a way to defeat this symbiote before it kills him or someone else.
This was a pretty fun and fast paced issue. There was a lot of information packed into it. It is also a little too much if you haven’t read the Absolute Carnage series. I didn’t. So yeah I was a little lost. But the issue did enough to explain what was going on that I could follow. If I’m honest, it’s a little frustrating with Amazing Spider-Man being bi-weekly and then doing every possible cross over. I just want to read Spider-Man, but I also have a lot of other stuff to pull. All in all it was still a pretty good read. Issue #30 takes place after Absolute Carnage #3.

Amazing Spider-Man #30
Luckily for me, the issue starts off with a ton of back story. It details how Spidey came in contact with the Venom symbiote to start. And then gets us up to speed on how Carnage is back and trying to track down everyone who has worn a symbiote. Whenever a symbiote leaves a host, it leaves behind what they are calling a codex. And now Carnage is trying to collect all of them.
Also, we get to see Kindred again. It seems like forever since we saw him. I feel like he’s just going to randomly pop up between story lines as a reminder that he’s still out there. I’m not sure when we will get an actual confrontation with him and Spider-Man. It is revealed through out the story that the Carnage Spidey is fighting is not Cletus Kasady, the original Carnage. But it is Norman Osborn. Who was let loose by Kindred after he seemingly killed Mysterio in the mental hospital.
