New Batman Writer James Tynion IV

September 21st 2019 was Batman Day. And on Batman day we got a cool announcement about the future of the Batman comic. James Tynion IV will take over in January 2020 with issue #86. His notable credits are his Detective Comics run, Justice League Dark, and the current Boom! Studios book Something is Killing the Children. If you’re not already, you can follow James Tynion IV on twitter for some good content on what is to come.

James Tynion IV to Write Batman

As Tom King finishes his run on Batman with issue #85 in December. James Tynion IV will pick up with #86 along with artist Tony S. Daniel. There are rumors that another Batman relaunch is coming after issue #100 which could mean another new writer. But bringing in someone to write just 15 issues and then relaunching the title again doesn’t make a ton of sense. But we will see how things will unfold. I have yet to see any official reports on a relaunch or how many issues he is slated to write. But we are getting glimpses of the kind of story we are going to get.

Not only will he pick up the story where Tom leaves it, he will also be adding his own flair. He will focus on the mythos and add new vehicles. But most of all it will be a Batman Solo book. He’ll still have Catwoman and the Bat-Family, but the focus will be on Bruce Wayne

Go give James Tynion IV and Tony S Daniel a follow for more insight. I’m going to probably have to go pick up Something is Killing the Children to see what we’re getting into.
