Buffy the Vampire Slayer #6

Buffy the Vampire Slayer #6 picks up directly after the events of last issue. Buffy and Willow are on a mission to save Xander. In order to do that, they ave to find something called the Soul Tie. We have to assume it ties a person’s soul back to the body. And since Drusilla began to turn Xander, the only thing that can save him is keeping his soul intact. Not only do they have to save Xander, Drusilla is attempting to open the Hellmouth. They are running out of time to do both.

Thoughts

Buffy the Vampire Slayer #6 is a good issue. Plenty of plot movement and action. I’m really happy with the direction and the amount of suspense and mystery we are left with. There are lots of storylines going on while the main action continues. If you’re a new fan or you’ve been one since the original movie, there is enough here to keep you interested.

Credits

This issue is written by Jordie Bellaire. So far I’m digging the reimagined story of the Scooby Gang from Sunnydale. We get to see our favorite characters in an brand new light and in some new adventures. I wonder how far it will stray from the rules that applied in the original tv series. Illustration and colors are done by David Lopez and Raul Angulo. If I’m honest, I’m not a huge fan of the art. But the style does match many other horror comics and it does work with the story.

Buffy and Willow search for the Soul Tie

Buffy the Vampire Slayer #6 – The Story

With Xander at undeath’s door, Willow and Buffy must find the Soul Tie to save him. They venture into a cave to complete the trials needed to obtain the stone. Giles and Ms Calendar watch over Xander and keep him inside the protection field. Willow and Buffy make their way through the trials and get to the final one when Robin shows up out of nowhere. He says he was worried about Xander and found them with find my friends on his phone. I’m not buying it though.

It turns out, the map and the trials are merely coincidental as a large snake demon explains. This unnamed demon can make the Soul Tie, but one of them must give up a piece of their soul. It seems that Willow is the one most capable of giving up part of her soul. Though Buffy protests, the demon uses Willow for the stone before she can do anything to stop it. They make it back to Giles and the rest of the gang and Willow coughs up the Soul Tie. Giles cryptically tells the group that Willow being part of the stone changes every thing. Then Robin confirms my suspicion as he leaves the group and sends a message to the Council confirming he is “In”.
