X-Men #4

The X-Men with resurrected Charles Xavier head to the Davos, Switzerland in X-Men #4. The World Economic Forum has a new force influencing all nations. And Krakoa seems to have all the leverage in any type of negotiations. If any nation of humans really wanted to attempt another assassination on Xavier, now would be the time. But he has some of the world’s most powerful mutants by his side. Magneto, Apocalypse, Cyclops and Gorgon travel together to meet with global leaders. This very intense meeting could shape the future of human/mutant relations.

Xavier and the X-Men arrive at Davos
X-Men #4

Some of my excitement for Jonathan Hickman’s X-Men is starting to fade. I’m worried that if I don’t read all the different X-Books, I’m going to be missing big pieces of the story. And this issue confirms much of that suspicion. Even earlier, Xavier’s assassination happened in X-Force. At least we got a heads up at the beginning of the next X-Men. But now he’s back after being revived in X-Force #3 by Jean Grey and Beast. And the whole group of new plant loving humans called Horteculture are seemingly forgotten for now.

But still, it is a well written story. You just feel the intense nature of the situation the mutants have been put into. And now there may be no hope of a reconciliation. The mutants hold a ton of leverage. So all the humans can do is compromise to Krakoa’s demands, or try again to kill the leaders of the mutant nation.
