The worst Taskforce X team in history has been assembled to take on the Revolutionaries in Suicide Squad #1. But the objective is not as it seems. A new set of Supers are attacking the Australian military to gain control of a submarine with nuclear war heads. A new operation leader, Lok, has assembled a team to go after the Revolutionaries, but there is more going on than meets the eye. Waller is not giving any input. And new team additions of Magpie and Cavalier don’t inspire confidence in the rest of the group. What do Waller and Lok have up their sleeves?
Suicide Squad #1
Just like the cover suggests, Tom Taylor does a number on both teams in this opening issue. He’s never been shy about killing a character off in a series. I like that they went with the character tags an introductions to keep the pace fast and not bog down the story. There is a ton of stuff introduced for this to be the first issue. The Revolutionaries are all new characters so its nice to get the name and what they can do in a character tag as opposed to dragging out character introductions. This is the first book I’ve read with Redondo doing the artwork. He does an excellent job here. Wink seems like a direct copy of Blink from Marvel. But it does seem like each company has a different version of characters. I enjoyed this first issue. It was face paced and brutal.
